Generation I

Generation 2008 are etchings from the paintings done during the pregnancy of my neice and the birth of her daughter and the realization we have 4 grandparents, 8 great grandparents, 16 great great grandparents, 32, 64, 128, 256, and so on. Twelve generations ago we had 4,196 great great great etc etc grandparents with their experiences and the feeling that what freedom we achieve in overcoming obstacles and forgiving, releases subsequent generations from suffering. We are all a family evolving towards a higher awareness.

"Generation I" total size of book 57 x 42cm. Composed of 5 vertical etchings 29 x 23cm and 4 horizontal etchings 35 x 39cm.

Ancestor [with the emptiness needed to fill]
Sleeping innocence [and the awaiting jungle she need to enter]
The Mangrove [which detains the sands and form islands]
Parade of man
Skins of lives lived
The men who are Wall and its deconstruction [of that which will allow us to move forward]
The heart support
The Amniotic Sea
The ancestors and descendants smiling
Nature and culture in balance
Stop, enough
The Scallop [the pilgrim's, in search for the other half]
